Chocolate Frosting

Description

This chocolate frosting is super rich and velvety made with butter, cocoa powder and sugar. You can use this deep chocolate flavor and smooth texture on cupcakes, cookies and cakes.

Instructions

  • Melt the chocolate and set it aside to cool.
  • With a stand mixer or hand-held electric whisk, beat the butter or margarine until creamy. Add the icing (confectioners’) sugar and beat on high speed for several minutes until fluffy. Switch to a spatula and gently but thoroughly mix in the melted chocolate, followed by the cocoa (don’t beat in the chocolate).
  • Chill – Refrigerate in an airtight container for 10 days. Bring to room temperature, then stir until spreadable.
  • Freeze – Freeze in an airtight container for up to 6 months.
  • Defrost – Let thaw, then stir until spreadable (do not whip).
